This will be the new vegetable garden this year
Raised beds because of the higher rainfall we have been having, and to help with drainage
Raised beds because they won't be walked on and so will not compact the soil so badly
Raised beds because they should be easier to weed
Raised beds because the paths will not need weeding at all, and if anything grows through the deeply mulched wood chip paths they can be sprayed without affecting the vegetables
Raised beds because Wonderwoman has been going on about it for so long that I have finally had to concede [IMG]

Is it me or is there something beautiful about a new veg plot? Give me a few months and I'll have one of my own.

Craig. There is something beautiful about any new plot, bed or border not just veggies.

Looks good Whis4ey, and also. Raised bed because you can plant closer together increasing yield.

    Very smart and tidy Whis4ey.

Perhaps you could let that (Unbelieving and obnoxious) Joe Swift from Gardeners World, see what shape proper raised beds shoud be!

    Ta!

The bed on the right front is my asparagus bed which I made last year. You can just about spy the asparagus appearing
Yes .. I will post a follow up as it gets planted
One bed has been left without any additional fertiliser to see how it turns out
The others have had some farmyard manure added
The asparagus bed has had compost and farmyard manure added as asparagus are apparently heavy feeders

Whatya' got in that HUGE greenhouse then? That's one tidy garden, should be a doddle to look after. I could post a pic of my patch to show how it shouldn't be done.. [IMG]
