He also took the world record for a potato a couple of weeks ago at the National Gardening Show, Shepton Mallet.

Did he grow it from monster veg seed, or standard sets.
There is a guy on youtube who grows 35lb cabbages and 6" dia leeks by the dozen but they are not standard crop seeds, as well as many other giant veg. There is also a guy who grows tomatoes over 8ft high.

          Thanks for sharing this:dbgrtmb:

I've just had to explain the birds and the bees to the wife, in terms of selecting the biggest onions and breeding them together, in the hope that the offspring seeds will be genetically programmed to be big.:)

Incidentally, going off track a bit, consider this:

There is a family with the unusual and novel surname of 'Bigger'. There are three people in this family, comprising Mr Bigger, Mrs Bigger, and their new born baby.

          Q. Which member of the family do you reckon is the biggest?

          A. The baby. He's a little Bigger.

(Sorry, I'll get my coat now)
