    Hi there and welcome.
Roses prefer sun and south and east facing - a north facing wall will mean that it will only get direct sunlight in the middle of the summer. Whilst it may grow, and flower, it will not be akk that happy. Not sure it would be totally happy being with an ivy clad wall either.

If you want to break up the colour of an ivy clad wall, I would be more inclined to plant small trees and shrubs in front of it - rather than getting something else to try and compete with the ivy.

Continuous flowering just means its a repeat flowere, and will flower from June til about October/November.

someone once told me that "new Dawn" would do OK on north face wall, but have never tried it myself though I do grow it.
