I just wanted to say Hi ;)

I'm quite new to gardening, I moved into my new house 18 months ago and all my kids have grown up and flown the nest meaning I can do what I want in my garden.

I bought a greenhouse last year and grew my first Tom's and cuke's. The cuke's (marketmore) were very successful, the cherry tom's were superb but I dont know the variety as I was given plants, the standard tom's (moneymaker) were horrid [IMG] So I've got lots of different varieties to try this year.

My back garden is mostly slabbed but we pulled up some slabs to give us a small veg patch and grew runner beans, beetroot, swede and masses of onions last year. I did try carrots, lots of diff varieties but ended up with a grand total of 3 carrots  but they were very nice! This year we'll be growing the same plus some broad beans I planted last Nov and some seed potatoes which I plan to grow in compost bags. I did plant some seed potatoes in tyres last August, we ended up with a 5 tyre stack but when we demolished the stack to harvest in December we only had about 15 tiny pots.

I'll be busy this year raising lots of flowers from seed as we are going to tackle the front garden (so far untouched since we moved in) which has a lawn that needs a lot of work but we're going to plant borders around it to brighten it up.

I also had my first attempt at hanging baskets last year, I was quite pleased with them, they looked very nice but the very hot spell in July didnt do them any good (I hope I've posted this picture correctly)

I've bought some flower pouches for this year.

I've spent the last few hours reading the site and have already learned lots but will keep reading... and asking questions! as I have a lot to learn

Nice to see you, KT! Sounds like you know exactly what you want to do in your garden, and have a pretty good idea of how to do it too! :D And a picture in the first post too - impressive or what!!

    Welcome!

I'm more at ease with a computer than a dibber! :D

I dont really know what I want to do with my garden, I'm winging it lol, I've never had one before. So far I am happy with the results in the back garden but change my mind almost daily on what I want to do with the front garden.

Maybe I'll take some photos and post them up asking for ideas, in the correct forum of course!

Sounds like a good idea - photos always help a lot! Have a look in the projects section, and you'll see what I did with mine, in the thread about "We've been here a year..." or something like that - that was in early Ocober last year. There are lots of before and after photos in there! :D
