    Hi All

I am a Gardener's Corner newbie. I am called Helen and we have cultivated the sunny corner of our garden to be a veggie patch.

I have posted on the pests thread, but this looks like a busier one :)

I have two pumpkin plants bought from a garden centre both of which are now showing yellow spots on the leaves and now one of them has yellowing on it's stem.

Any ideas what is causing it? They were both in 8" pots until I transplanted them yesterday.

    Thanks

    Helen

Yellow spots on the leaves usually means Rust. Any chance of a pic or two?

Yellow spotted leaves to me = Rust, BUT it could be something else, hence the request for pics.:D:D:dbgrtmb:

Having looked at the pics, I am, unfortunately, going to change my mind and say it is Cucumber Mosaic Virus.

MMmmm, see what you mean, not quite what I was expecting to see.

    You could be right Dai.

    Although I'm not 100% sure

I think it is just because it's not been hardened off and it's way too cold for pumpkins to be outside anyway.

Well I dont think its virus, main reason, I have had a yellow spot form on one of my plants in the last day or so.
As I remember, cucumber mosaic virus, from growing marrows, the leaves are distorted, these are not.

I've only ever grown pumpkin once before and cant remember if they had any yellow spotting on the leaves.
I'm just thinking this might be a trait of certain varieties:scratch:

Anyway, I wont be destroying my plant as it looks really healthy, but I shall keep an eye on it.
