Hi everyone. I am a bit of a novice (to say the least!) when it comes to gardening. My OH and I moved to Lincoln in November last year to a lovely bungalow where the previous owners had spent 90% of their time in the garden. The garden is lovely but not quite to our taste, there is a lot of ivy covering the fences and everything is green with very little colour. Unfortunately we don't know what a lot of things are so we are learning as we go along.

We are both keen to learn more about gardening so no doubt will be here quite a lot asking for advice.

We also are the pround 'parents' of two puppies (now 18 weeks old) who also seem to enjoy gardening (at least pulling things up and digging holes). The puppies seem to like anything a bit 'reedy' and enjoy hiding under bushes so consequently a lot of the shrubs now have gaps at the bottom.

A really basic question, there are a few fuchsias of different types in the garden and they are all getting a bit too big for the garden (it is a large garden but quite overcrowded). They are hardy fuschias and would it be possible to move them now (so I can put in bulbs etc in raised beds) or do I have to wait until spring?

Hi Jane welcome to g c, it's a rule you must post some pictures of your puppies in the pets section as soon as you can, your fuchsias I would let them die back then prune them move them in spring as soon as they start to grow.

    Hi and welcome Jane.
You'll find lots of people to help you on here.
I agree with Walnut re the fuchsias - let them die down and wait till Spring to move them.
Look forward to seeing photos of the puppies.:D

Thanks for the nice welcome. Unfortunately leaving the fuchsias would mean I can't plant anything in a raised bed. There are four different fuchsias in there, one of which is extremely large and overpowering the others. I want to put in some bulbs and bedding plants so they may have to be sacrificed if I can't move them now. I am a real novice so could I take cuttings (and if so, how?).

I'l post pictures of the puppies as soon as I can!
