    Introducing, Ayla :)

    Ayla Edit.jpg

She is an 8 month old Pomeranian. She's already showing herself to be a) quite a character, b) an intelligent girl and c) my shadow!

    Ozzy and Ayla, together:

    Family.jpg

    And from another perspective:

    Perspective.jpg

This morning, after our woodland walk, a bite of breakfast and a long glug of water, I took Ozzy and Ayla into the garden to "play". Unfortunately, despite all Ozzy's attempts, Ayla wasn't having any of it :nonofinger: I went and got the toy basket to see if I could tempt her. No, all she wanted was the bone out of the basket.

Now, how is this for "clever"? Ozzy had barked, rolled on his back, made other noises, nudged her, licked her - anything he could think of to entice her to play with no result. Until ...

... he had seen her interest in his bone (which I had put behind my back to try and get her interested in the toys). He walked over to me, gently took the bone from behind my back, then slowly walked past Ayla and into the main garden. He gave a look or two over his shoulder as he sauntered off. I'm thinking: is he enticing her? Seems he was because she saw the bone, approached him and VROOM! game on! :roflol:

    Chase me chase me.jpg

Hilarious! He dropped the bone so she could pick it up and then he chased after her until she dropped it and he picked it up etc.

    Bone Edit.jpg
    Brilliant fun.

She's had no training/discipline at all. But, after we'd all recovered from the long trip yesterday, I did sit beside her and begin teaching her "sit" and "down" (with the aid of a few tasty treats  ). She picked up the signals and words very quickly!

I'm not a lover of "toy" dogs, I much prefer a dog to *be* a dog, but, methinks this little lady is going to be a very interesting addition to our 'pack'. :doggieshmooze:

How adorable! I love the second photo ... it's as if Ayla is trying to decide exactly what Ozzy is! You sure do like your long-haired pets, don't you? Between these two and Echo, you need your own mini grooming salon. :heehee:

                        Thank you, everyone :)

Thank you HB: Ah, yes, Ozzy "crowd stopping" :heehee: Spot on! Everyone loves our Ozzy and a walk into town takes forever because of the people who want to stroke/ask about him (well, all those who don't cross the road to avoid him anyway :roflol: ) He has a fabulous temperament too. I'm considering applying for him to be a P.A.T dog (Pets As Therapy) because I think that is his calling in life. Just want to get his silver certificate first though.

You are absolutely right, "Ayla" from the Earth Childrens series. Not a name I would immediately have chosen though. Her original name we simply didn't like and knew we wanted to change it. But, we also wanted something which sounded a little bit similar because she was already going through such big changes. So, a name ending with an "A" sound. Don't think we'll encounter too, too many "Ayla's" in the park :heehee:

Have you read the whole series of books, HB?

oh my goodness your the first person ever to say yes! every time i've asked others if their child/bird/cat/goldfish was named after someone in the series they've always said "no, why? wa's dat den?" cue my long-winded & slightly excitable ramblings about what its about & what a great series it is....& there like "waw you dont say? thats fascinating!" YAWN  YAWN  YAWN  YAWN  i almost wasn't going to risk asking again lol :heehee:

Yes, I've read them all bar Painted Caves - I'm half way through, but, I'm really not enjoying it  I think her style altered with Shelter of Stones (which I found really tedious and a bit of a slog to get through!) and Painted Caves is giving me the same sense of "why am I bothering?". I will plough on, at some point, just so I see where she leaves it. Loved the first four though :) With those, I would stay awake most of the night trying to finish them :heehee: The final two, I've read a few pages and they've sent me to sleep

oh no really! i hope i like it as i must admit i did enjoy Shelter of Stone, i liked that we finally got to meet all the people Jondalar was forever rambling on about in the previous books but i cant say i was blown away like i was with the first three books...they were just superb reading! i found Plains Of Passage to be the most lacking imho, just a bit yawn snore-ish & uneventful....nothing much happened did it :dunno:
i know exactly what you mean about reading all night (even though i am a bit of a night owl anyway...look at the time now! :thud: ) i don't think i had a single full nights sleep whilst reading the first three, particularly Valley Of Horse (which is my fav followed closely by Mammoth Hunters ) i found them impossible to put down once i started

which would you say is your fav "M" ?
