[IMG] I have some friends in NewFoundland & I have often wondered what it was like. They have sent odd photos & I have flown over part of it but it was winter so covered in snow at the time. This little slide show takes you around the coastline. It starts with MV Caribou leaving Nova Scotia. HERE.

You must have noticed the shots of the Caribou's wheelhouse?? Well here is the Merchant Vessel Caribou.!!!! Their Ferry, in heavy seas..!!! HERE.

I was in Newfoundland once ... or was it twice? ... about 1957 I think.

We were flying from the States to the UK and then back again. I can't remember which way (I was rather young) but they had to clear the runway before the plane could land for fuel and then again before it could take off after fuelling ...

That's my memories of Newfoundland ... I never saw the beauty of the island country because it was all white ...

M.F. how rough was that sea just watching that makes you realise that all sea men lost at sea didnt stand a chance. my uncle owned a trawler that fished from grimsby and he lost two of his danish crew in the 80`s in a storm . dont know much about newfoundland but that was one rough sea  ;)

[IMG] A fantastic place in summer, but those winters are not for me..!! Now you know, those dogs need those coats in winter! ;)

:( Inter the sea is a very cruel place, Ihave to say, despite it's beauty.. The ferry is the one that gets me.. The shot of the wheelhouse in the slide show gives the impression of calm waters... According to my friends the sea is more often like the film of MVCaribou..!!! :D

jazz my friend has friends in nova scotia she has a fantastic video of were they live, her friend put it together herself with some fab music.
just seen a newfoudland dog on crufts yesterday funnily enough, yes woo those dogs were built for swimming, im sure they use them for saving people in the waters.
