I said to T'other Half the other day that in the 54 years we have been together, I never recall him calling me by my name ... neither can he!!! :rolleyespink:

When we met I wore ridiculously large sunglasses ... so he called me Froglet ... and in return I called him Toadie ,which I still do most of the time. Unfortunately this led to friends buying us frogs and toads as presents of all descriptions ... mainly ornaments from cheap to expensive ones till we owned over 300 of them but sold most of them (the cheap ones) at a car boot sale before we moved here. One person bought about 50 of them!

T'other Half usually calls me Becil (Bee-sill). His handwriting is atrocious (usually prints badly instead) and when he was in German lessons he made up a character called Beckman which he was scribbling rather than paying attention. The teacher caught him and asked what a Becilman was, so Beck became Becil.

Do you have a nickname you would care to share and how you got it?

My nickname is 'Michael Hewett' but I am only called it on here
In real life I have always been called by my proper name, or a shortened version of it.

'Michael Hewett' is actually an ancestor who lived in Devon in the 1800s

Ah, found a photo from September 1972 when we were at Huntsville Airport, Alabama, heading for the UK for a visit, wearing matching tops! :rolleyespink:

Lovely photos @Victoria, very classy! I have a pair of overlarge sunglasses that I love, my daughter calls them "angry fly" glasses.

We have never called the daughter by her name. For the first few (appr. 10) years she was The Baby, and when she started to object to that, The Midget (the short person living in our house). Then she upgraded to The Teenager and now that she's officially past that, I'm struggling a bit. "Young Adult" doesn't have the right ring to it.

A colleague once asked if our daughter actually has a name. What a silly question, we gave her one shortly after she was born, we are not that tight. :th scifD36: :heehee:

I go by various nicknames, thanks to a romantic mother and a foreign husband my full name is proudly unpronounceable and unspellable in any known language.

For most of my life, I was called Jock or Big Jocko. Not because I am Scottish (I lived and worked in Scotland all my days) but Jock is a common version of John here (my given name).
A good number of years back my brother (who has been known as Pedro all his life) and I were playing a computer game. He input Pedro as his name and as I came to put John in for my screen name he pushed in and typed Jocko and it has been Jocko ever since. Even down to my car registration (near enough).

Thank you @Selleri. I will always think of your daughter as The Teenager.

I dont think I had a nickname at work, some did some didn't.
Maybe mine was one that was only used behind my back.

At one place I worked we had "tennis ball head", "carpet head", "Dexy", (he looked like the bloke in Dexys mightnight runners) lots of surnames changed and a Y put on the end.

Last place I was at we had a bloke who was named "the caterer", because whatever he did he always made a meal of it.;)

I still wear fairly large sunglasses. My favourite (and most expensive) pair are these [IMG] ones. I think the first pair I owned were large. Maybe because I really admired Jackie O's style and she wore the big ones.
