My OH and I collect Nippon Porcelain made between the years of 1865 and 1921. We have many pieces. They are viewed as hobbie and investment. We find them in various places, auctions, and antique stores and ebay.
OMG, your voice is sexier than your Avatar:D I've got some simliar looking stuff, the tea cups have the image of a lady in the bottom, kinda like a watermark.
When I can, i'll get some pics of the stuff. Used to be a huge dinner service set, but only a few pieces left now.
Here is a small/tiny sample of more we have stored in the basement on shelves. We have 5 very long shelves loaded with the stuff. This is also Nippon. The ones you see with the obvious tacktill layering is also a type of moriage, and the gold you see on some is real. Like the one to the far right back corner, the bib part gold color is real gold. I also have a huge dinner service, still stuck/stored in the attic, but not of this era, it is from the occupied Japan era, I am leaving it there unless I find the perfect china cupboard to put it in. It is a 12 piece place setting, so beautiful, cranberry and gold rim, and little yellow flowers, and cream center. Has all sorts of serving bowls to go with it, even a soup bowl and matching ladel. I was questioning if the paint was not lead based being that old. But for now it stays up there. Looking forward to seeing your stuff Ziggy.
No idea, just know they were a present from an Aunt and Uncle stationed out there. Won't be able to take a pic till the next time I go to Hampshire though.
Just sharing another vase picture with you all from my collection of Nippon. This vase is about 100 years old.
