My Honeysuckle looks very healthy with plenty of folage but has no flowers to show for it,the same thing happened last year I am thinking of getting rid of it and grow some other climber in its place.

Hi Arty,Where have you got the honeysuckle planted in your garden and how old is the plant?Don't get rid of it yet as it sounds quiet healthy if it has plenty of foliage but is probably lacking in a certain nutrient that would help it to flower.Try adding some chicken pellets or some other feedstuff that you might have in your shed and keep the roots moist in hot weather and see how it goes.

It might be too late to flower this year or it might be a later variety that still has to flower.Don't right it off just yet as it might just want a good feed or time to flower if it is a young plant.:)

Do you know which variety you have, Arty? Some do take a while before they get sufficiently established to flower well. This is especially true of the Japanese honeysuckle, Lonicera japonica. Once it gets going, though, there is no stopping it! There are, however, one or two variegated honeysuckles which don't flower much and are grown more for their leaves than their blooms.

My honeysuckle took a couple of years before it flowered, but once it got going it flowered really well. Then I had to cut it down because I moved house (and brought it with me), and no sign of flowers this year. I'm not worried though, the hacking to oblivion prior to the move probably set it back a bit.
