no grass

    hi all, i'm new to this and got a problem with grass, just got a new house and people living there before had chickens and let them run loose all day and back garden is just dry mud what would be the best way on going to get a lovely green lawn.

    rotovate it, level and firm. sow grass seed in the autumn or turf it now and water well until estrablished

    The ground will be sour from an excess of chicken droppings. This happens to our chicken run and once a year, I sprinkle garden lime over it and the let the rain water it in.

    Chicken droppings are very acidic when fresh, so the lime neutralises. Perhaps you could sprinkle the lime in when you are rotavating it?
