I know , we have talked about mango before and the fact that mine are dye down in winter , so I decided not to try the usual caribbean mango but a different variety from Pakistan as apparently bit hardy due of the strange weather .
I`ve planted this one 4 weeks ago , considering that we didn`t had just one week hot , look how big it got .

planted 3 seeds and got 3 plants , the picture is not really clear , but the leaves are abouit 8 inches long.
for who has never seen an honey mongo , it actually really small yellow and the most sweet fruit that I have ever eaten .

I love Honey Mango & I have germinated plenty of the seeds, but I cannot get one through the winter successfully yet, whether indoors or in a heated greenhouse.. :dunno:

then I was reading from an italian website that the best way of overwinter a mango plant is to start it at the end of January as it need to get woody to overwinter , overall it`s easy over there as it manage to produce fruit even on a balcony pot.
What I was thinking of is to grafting the plant on a strong evergreen root , the only one I can think off is the japanese medler or peach and see what uppen.

the most cold hardy mango tree is the Canarian Hardy Mango , gomera , but the second hardy variety is the one from pakistan , where they have region where can have -20 and have hardy tropical plants on the borderline of the mountains .
The Gomera mango is used also as root stock for different variety , also the gomera is grown in the andalucia region of Spain , so there are species that can live with less light and bit of cold .
Another interesting fact : the closest relative plant close to the mangos family, that grow outdoor in UK is the Rhus tree ....
