I finally put my ten quid 'cloche greenhouse' together today. I'm hoping it might help me to get some of my borderline hardy plants through the winter (that is, if it doesn't end up taking off in the gales which are forecast for tomorrow). 'Did you know it was going to be that large?' said my OH, surveying my progress. Large? I could have filled it twice over with no problem at all.

The world is full of "well meaning friends and relatives" and their "helpful suggestions" that make you bite your lip.

I know your problem ClaraLou - the more space you have the more you want.

I know what you mean too, I get people standing right in front of my burgeoning veg patch & asking, have you got any more land with the property ?

How much do they think I can tend ?

Nor do they understand the inability to visit a garden centre or nursery and not buy at least one plant/bulbs/seeds/delete as applicable

    Hey Ziggy

With the vast amount of free space you have at your place, I am sure you have room for some lettuce and cauliflower seedlings. Call in and pick some up mate. 0):D

I have some well meaning friends and rellies discussing my garden as if it was a burden to me. Just because they have no concept of a garden........Bah !!!.... and ask me if my gardener does the flower-beds as well cut the grass...
I would not let anyone touch my garden except me!!!!!!

    Would never employ a "gardener."

The problem with some contract gardeners is that they give the "proper ones" a bad name.
Next door fired hers as they'd through ignorance, "ring barked" with a strimmer one of her trees set in the lawn. They'd also dug up a patch of her planting thinking it was weeds and left some really well growing ground elder.

Reminds me of "Tom the Gardener" in Crewkerne. He used to wander around with a bag of something under his arm, cutting grass & cadging beer off people, even if he had only done the gardening for the previous occupants, he still expected beer under grandfather rights.

Next doors garden was all lawn with a single pampas grass clump in the middle.
After years of just sitting there doing nothing it suddenly flowered. Tom took one look at it, said "i'm not having that seeding everywhere" & promptly hacked it to the ground.

Cheers for the tea & seedlings earlier Chopper, smashing stuff.:thumb:

Good to see you again Ziggy. Thankyou for the books, I have started reading them already. I forgot to give you some eggs that were already boxed up, sorry mate. Remind me next time.
