I'm after a hose that doesn't kink, if there is such a thing :dunno:

I've got one which is not supposed to kink, but it does. The water still flows through but when it kinks the flow slows so if possible I want one that just doesn't kink at all.

    The one I've got is the Draper Expert 48675 30 m x 12 mm Anti-Kink Watering Hose.

    Any recommendations please? :help:

Has anyone used the Hozelock Ultimate hose?

I've got a spiral hose like this:

    http://www.garden4less.co.uk/hozelock-spiral-hose-set-15m.asp

It doesn't kink but it's got a couple of problems that make me wish I hadn't bought it, firstly it is a smaller bore so the pressure is reduced, secondly it snags and trap things when it recoils back into shape, snagging flowers or knocking over plant pots.

    Hi,
Just to say, I have a no kink hose on a reel out in the garden and it has been good for ten years now and just starting to kink a bit. I think I shall maybe replace this in the not to distant.
Oh, by the way it was a purchase from Screwfix that swayed us as it was them at the time.

My only thought is that if you need more than 25M then get 3/4" rather than 1/2" - you'll get significantly more water (volume and pressure) through it.

If you do that make sure you get a lightweight / flexible hose, as some of the ones I have are quite hefty to move about. They don't kink much, so that might be a benefit of 3/4" over 1/2" too.

I stored one, over winter, just coiled and tided into a loop and hung it over a peg in the shed. That causes a significant "angle" at that point over the course of the winter, and I think I may have weakened it as a result, so might be better to store on a reel, or at least hang it over an "easy" bend/curved object if you hang it up.

I too have an anti kink hose that kinks! I didn't but the very best and presumably this is why it kinks - you get what you pay for lol

I don't think I've ever had a hose that never kinks ... but maybe it is in part how you set about using it?

I saw Mrs Shiney put her hose away after watering the plants at the open day, and she had a nice reel on the side of the Summer House ... pulling it out next time means it would "flow" freely, compared to one all just coiled up on the ground.

In my vegetable patch I have some decent corners to all the beds that the hose can run around (I have raised beds, but I deliberately built the corners such that there was an "overhang" so that I could snag the hose under it, and it wouldn't jump the corner of the bed). I can two the hose around a corner and it flows smoothly.

I rarely double-back on myself with the hose - the resulting U-bend in the hose tends to snag plants, so I go back without the end of the hose and wind it back, with the end of the snake following back ... and then set off again in a different direction with the hose

Some of that may be necessitated by using the thicker 3/4" hose though.
