Just a few pics from the weekend visit to our son in Barnstaple.
Barnstaple town from the river Taw.

    The town bridge.

    Croyde bay.

    Attempts at drowning or something!

Watersmeet (East and West Lyn rivers) the roar was deafening and in full flood and I imagine bringing terrible memories back to those down in Lynmouth.

      Nice one Strongy:dbgrtmb:

We gave a heads up to a family on those rocks at Croyde during the summer, they were out on them oblivious that the tide had crept in behind them. Time they decided to do something about it, it was already 2 foot deep.

        Beautiful pictures ..
As you can see from my profile, I live in Ibbenbueren, Germany and I have only visited the UK once (London..4 days of tourist stuff and loooooong walks through a great city.had agreat time :blue thumb:)
But I have to tell you.. since I'm part of this (very friendly,by the way!! ) forum and get to look pictures of so many beautiful places just 'cross the chanel ...the idea of spending some vacation time exploring the English countryside grows. :hapfeet:
But I don't have the faintest hint of a clue where go...
        Hmm..maybe I should start a thread?

Luna I think a "where to go in the UK " would be a good thread ! :blue thumb:
Nice pics Strongy , Croyde bay is one of my favourite beaches .
So those are the rivers which caused the flood disaster in Lynmouth in the 50's . It was a huge downpour after a dry period, I think this caused the heavy loss of life. Still it's now a very pretty resort with a water powered funicular railway , if you have seen it ?

Harry, I have been on the Funicular railway but not since the 80's.
