Can anyone recommend any shrubs that will survive this garden and the chickens?

    Thank you.

Hi TH welcome to GC. I can recommend shrubs for north facing but not anti-chicken ones. I think that is impossible with the appetites those critters have.

I'm tempted to say something along the lines of onions and a sage bush, but I won't :D

Rhododenrons will cope with shade - we had a few growing right next to a 6 to 7 foot north facing wall and they did quite well.

Can't help with what to plant but years ago we kept chickens and Mrs shiney trained them not to go on certain parts of the garden [IMG] but I don't know how :( . She even trained them to follow commands e.g 'roll over and play dead', 'stop', 'up' (they lifted their wings so she could put her hands underneath and pick them up  ) etc. Needless to say, they didn't take a blind bit of notice of anything I said [IMG]

    Good luck :D

Shiney sounds like Mrs Shiney has got you well are trained then.Roll over and play dead,'stop' 'up' and I bet you only go onto the parts of the garden she has trained you to go onto,ie the lawns with your lawn mower [IMG] :D
