NOT a good start to 2015

Now that it has warmed up a bit I took a walk up the garden.
Not too bad although the Echium Candicans is looking a bit iffy but then I got to the greenhouse - total carnage
All my Mackaya look dead, numerous succulents, the Ferraria look as if they've cried enough for this year, various fried seedlings and so on. It hit -5°c according to the thermometer despite the heater being set to come on at 2°c. Switched it to manual and still nothing. The trip had thrown in the shed and the cause from what I can see is a slight roof leak which had trickled down to the breaker board.

All I can say is ballcocks

I know I look daft, but on cold nights I check the heaters before I go to bed, quite often just to make sure the thermostat is not stuck in the on position.

Could end up costing a fortune.

Oh hell what a start to 2015 for you. The lovely variegated Iris you sent me are safe and sound in my greenhouse. If you loose yours I can send you back, some of what you sent me altho I doubt you will need to have kept yours in your greenhouse being in a warmer part of the UK. That said we haven't really had it that cold so far...so far being the operative word!
