Not a Rose

    Hi,
    what is this please? It's awfully familiar...

    It grew bang in the middle of a seedling pot and tried to be a miniature Rose seedling I sowed, but now has decided to look very different. It was germinated indoors so not a gift from the wind or birds and must be something out of a seed bag. I'm a bit relaxed when it comes to seed sowing so this could be anything really. :th scifD36:

    Hawthorn? (Although I didn't sow that... ) :biggrin:

    I'm getting lots of squirrel sown Hazel coming up all over the place.
    Yours does look Hawthorn like.

    This one germinated in a windowsill propagator in my living room. There weren't too many squirrels around I seem to recall. :th scifD36: :biggrin:

    All the seeds looked like rose seeds and the compost was fresh- I think. :noidea:

      I think my Not-A-Rose is somewhat a Beech. Very branching, bushy and nice but will have to go unless anyone can identify it as something rare and spectacular definitely worth keeping :biggrin:

      Yes I agree it looks nutty, but as it germinated in a tiny propagator cell in my living room I would certainly have noticed a nut when potting it on.

      Quite a nice visitor, slugs and pests ignore it so it must be a tree or a weed. :)

      How about Alder.
      Seeds are tiny, or birch, that gets everywhere.
