I'm so looking forward to getting out into the garden.
Not long now, a few more weeks and the sound of mowers and cutters will be echoing around the place.
The smell of freshly cut grass.
It will be lovely to see and feed the fish again.
And to have some colour in the garden.
    I can't wait.:yho:

    Hi Lyn,
I mowed my grass four weeks ago after only a five week break from the previous cut. It seems as though the grass never stops growing nowadays :(. Wasn't like that when I was a lad :hehe: :lollol:

Its been a cold winter this year, so really looking forward to spring. It will be interesting to see which of the more tender tropicals have made it. I think there will be one or two gaps once the weather warms up :(

I blitzed my garden completely last year in an attempt to eradicate the bindweed, so this year I have a blank canvass to work with, and will be applying many of the tips and ideas I've got from you all on here. It is going to be ace. The patio area will become a container garden inspired by the colourful gardens you see on holiday round the med, the lawn area will be reseeded, and the borders will be planted out again but not sure what with yet. I might go for bold and cheerful on the patio, and cool and mellow colour scheme in the borders around the lawn. Of course I will have to wangle the herbs in there somewhere.

All this work means I will be starting fairly soon.

Clueless, if you have borders that run up to the patio, plant the herbs in that area. Nothing worse than trying to get herbs for cooking in the dark and wet, wandering up the garden for them.

I go for the container garden look on the patio, although OH has commented that there isn't much room to sit out there in summer....

Good points Aaron. The garden is not very big so convenience of access to the herbs won't be an issue in my case. As for the limited space on the patio, I reckon it will be a bit 'cosy' but as long as there is room for two or three deck chairs it will be ok.

My sentiments exactly :) I have two distinct areas on my patio - one very dark that only gets sunshine in later afternoon at the height of summer, where I keep all my hostas and ferns in pots and the other which is a complete suntrap where the skies the limit as to what to grow. I also have a clematis in a pot by the back door and a honeysuckle and passionflower growing in the beds at either end of the patio which I am hoping to encourage towards the patio!
