I'm interested in these too. I'm fed up of cutting them in half with my spade. Especially now i'm starting to plant stuff out that is actually perrienial. Last year my annuals got munched to death but that was only annuals.

Why not use a liquid slug killer, such as Slugit, which you can water over the plants as well as the soil? David.

I've just read an article that said the UK has 5o% more slugs this year because of the weather and that farmers (and everyone else) cannot cope.

It is the same here but only in isolated areas. I don't seem to have many at all yet my friend 10 minutes up the road has had everything eaten this year. It's strange. While out walking I do notice far more of those large brown slugs everywhere but I've only found two in my garden which ended up in the dustbin. Isn't there anything which eats them? Not even my dog is interested and he'll usually eat anything [IMG]

    hi kryssy,

apparently ducks and geese are rather partial...

my slugs were pretty active through june and july... but they're leaving my late crop of strawberries alone and seem to have gone to ground [IMG]

David, is Slugit safe to use where there is a dog that just occasionally chews a plant? I've been using beer traps, but this year just can't keep control. (Also it's a waste of good beer [IMG] ) :D

John, I`ve never known anybody with pets who use Slugit have a problem. We`ve got 3 cats and we`ve not had any trouble neither has any of my clients. David.

    David,

I seem to recall thru the hazy fog of my memory that when i was perusing container gardening i was told coffee grounds are good for keeping slugs away.
