Not Raked my Grass Seed in

    Heavy rain forecast for noon ... its here

    I sowed my grass seed this morning, in readiness for the rain, but only got half way through the raking-in - do you think it matters?

    I find that grass seed floats, and so if you don't rake it in, then it washes away very easily. Obviously it can't go far (unless you're on a hillside) but it just means the nice even distribution you did might not be so nice and even afterwards:)

    OK, I'll not worry about it too uch then, thanks.

    Yeah, right! My seeder is pathetic. It takes about 12 passes to deliver the requisite amount of seed. I did 6 passes on the Autumn sown and it looks OK, a bit thin, but with some Nitrogen it will be OK. I've done a 50% seeding rate before and it was fine after the first season. I've done an extra couple of passes for this Spring sown, because it will have more weed competition, but unless someone is looking for perfect results personally I woudl recommend saying 50% of the money on Autumn sown seed :blue thumb:
