I've tried for teh past 4 years to grow decent chillis, Although i get some fantastic plants and plenty of fruit, they are as hot as a red bell pepper!:cnfs:

I grow them in a conservatory, plenty of light. I've used chilli seeds from a decent chilli i like, i've bought seeds online, even really hot ones. I even went to a asian market and got the hottest nastist looking chilli i could find, which melted the bag, dried the seeds and then grew them, but still nothing, every single one is as mild as korma.

Tried lots of water, tried keeping them dry, tried good quality soil, tried old soil. I even tried the old trick of putting a match head in the soil near the base (although i found out that Safety matches dont work, its just kills them:lollol:)

    Anyone else had this problem?

    Cheers

Chillis need a good long growing season and need to be stressed a bit to get the heat. Start the seed early and once planted let the soil dry out more than you would normally allow before watering and make sure they get lots of sun. The chillis are normally hotter the nearer to the shoulder.

Have you tried Habeneros or Scotch Bonnet? if you have and they are not hot enough what exactly are you after?
I like reasonably hot chillis and grow many each year but I can't see the point of growing ones that make you feel like your lips are bleeding and almost stop you breathing!:D

I'm growing Haberneros and Scotch Bonnets too, more than HOT enough for my taste.

I hear of super hot chilies, a google search will probably point you in the right direction!
