Not sure what this is? Maybe a Nerine?

    photo1.jpg Hello,

I have just moved into a new house with a very large and established (though slightly neglected) garden. This is in the front border, and I am unsure what it is. A passing neighbour said they thought it was a "Nerine" but I can't find anything on the internet about how to care for it. This photo was taken a few weeks ago, and it is now looking very tired and floppy, with no live flowers and the leaves are starting to die. I would like to know what it is, and also if anyone has any advice about how to care for it?

Thankyou in advance for your help :)

    Welcome to the forums Rosi.
I cannot get a good close look at the flowers but from your pic I would say it is Crinum powellii.

I am ruling out Nerine bowdenii. They are flower now without any leaves.
After the flowers die down the leaves appear.

May I suggest that if it is a new garden and you have this superb plant then tread with caution. Wait and watch....there may well be many other dormant plants hidden in the ground...which next spring may appear.

    Hello Silver Surfer,

thankyou so much for your response - thats absolutely what it looks like, thankyou - I just wanted to make sure I don't do it any harm, but its starting to look quite tired so will research what to do with it!

    Thankyou for the advice!
