Novice gardener on borrowed land

Hi all. I've just started work on transforming a friends lawn into a veg plot. It's all new to me, I'll probably be on here quite a bit asking for advice and, you never know, helping out other newbies too! I've decided to blog my progress 'cause I thought it'd be fun and, anyway, winters coming and I'll have time on my hands.
