Number of tomato trusses...

    Hello. I would be grateful for advice as to how many trusses one should leave on tomatoes in containers.

    Neil, it really depends on how strong your plant is..........if you are growing cordon then I usually settle for about 6 but only you will know whether you want to let it grow further before stopping it. Many more than that and the the last trusses probably wouldn't produce very much in the way of fruit. Another thing is how big is the container and if you regularly feed the plant.

    Yes, cordon Moyra. The container isn't huge, so I thought 4 or 5 if I feed regularly. They're looking nice and healthy and the first fruit should set soon.

    Neil provided the container is adequate and you are going to feed regularly then I see no reason why you shouldn't achieve 6 trusses. You will know better once you get to that point. If the plant doesn't show any stress at that point then you know you should achieve 6 comfortably.
