Took my other half to Oxfords Botanic Gardens today. Here are some of the photos.................

Walked into the porch and the first thing that I spotted was this cracking wee orchid called Pterostylis...........

    On to the Lily House.
There was this Nidularium innocentii about to bloom...............

The carnivorous House is very late getting going this year. Pretty much the only thing of interest was a blooming Sarracenia rubra.................

      DSC_0258.jpg

Out in the passageway is this rather rampant climber, Clytostoma callistegioides.............

I took a photo of it from outdoors through the glass...........
      DSC_0264.jpg

Clivia miniata seems to enjoy the filtered sun of the passageway..............

Whilst a lot of things seem rather late this year, Thunbergia mysorensis (The Clock Vine) is blooming its heart out in the passageway..................

Thanks LongK - most interesting pictures.

I love that Clytostoma. I gather its a variation on Pandorea. I am wary of plants that flower too early on the grounds that they want heat overwinter. But, from Googling, I gather this would survive in a frost free greenhouse overwinter. So its a serious contender.

I have never seen a S. nicolai flower before - most interesting. But it underscores that fact that it is mainly an architectural plant.

No Strongylodon at OBG? or not yet in flower?

My Pandorea was fine frost free this year. The Clytostoma is in the passageway which gets some heat but will never be warm.

Totally agree. Makes a great greenhouse specimen though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not in flower yet. Should start in the next few weeks.

              Thanks!

What time of year did you go?

There were a few that I hadn't seen before too. That's why I try to pop in once a month if I can.

                Couple more random shots.................

I've always liked those for ponds and have some in my pond. You don't seem to see them all that frequently though:dunno::scratch::snork:
