After a largely dreich and overcast weekend it was nice to see the moon in a clear sky tonight.

Unfortunately, even with exposure value boosted (hence the noise in the pic) the long exposure caused the moon to blur due to its motion across the sky.

Maybe you'll have to translate for those south of the border, Dave! But I agree - gey dreich is the only way to describe the weather recently....

Love the photo - I can't get decent night photos with my camera either, WF. :(

Should have gone East, our weather after a very wet early morning was pure dead brilliant :D Had a nice afternoon on the beach at Seafield. Beautifull and dramatic Cumulus rising over Largow Law and the carrier HMS Ark Royal looking magnificent after her refit was parked in the Firth of Forth just off Kirkcaldy. Later she fired up and steamed off out for more sea trials.

Dave: that's a nice pic with great depth of field. It isn't easy to get leaves in trees in focus and a good sized moonshot without some quite sophisticated camera glassware

You're right froggy. The last couple of days the damp and mist has really clung to the valley. I drove to Alloa yesterday and as soon as I got out of the Tay valley the sun came out! It came out here today at about 3.00pm and was quite hot.

Photo was a rush job. I saw the moon peeking in the frame of the wild rose with the clouds faintly illuminated. Battery in my "good" 5700 digi was flat so I grabbed my vest pocket 7900 one and had a quick hunt for my tripod.
The good thing about the 7900 is that one can crop and enlarge without losing too much resolution.(the pic is about 50% ofthe full frame )Also a pretty good camera for quick "happy snaps".
