October Red Flowers

    Hello,
    We are have a wedding in the first week of October.
    Can someone suggest some red flowers approx one foot high that are easy to grow
    and will be in full bloom in the first week of October.
    The flowers will be in the front garden which faces west in Birmingham

    The only one I can think of would be Schizostylis Coccinea, Kaffir Lily, which starts blooming in autumn. Or, you could try red Gladioli, but plant the corms later in the season so they would be blooming when you need them.

    I think red rudbeckias are still in bloom then, or red dahlias, but you would need to sow them NOW.
