So short version of the last few years and the plot that i worked on.

I took time away from when i had head op and re learnt to walk and stuff, when i returned it was looking really neglected the actual owner had done nothing, yet he was annoyed with me as he had received a warning on the state of the plot, i started working the plot again cleared it again and replanted then he got a lady friend and they then started to visiting the plot to have " romantic evenings " ! the lady friend then asked that i stopped working the plot as she didnt want to share her Fella ( my godness i wanted his PLOT not HIS BODY )
so i let the council know that i wanted to work the plot but he had asked me to stop working it, they said that he couldnt remove me from his tenancy but could ask that i didnt work the plot, they also said that when / if he left the plot i would be able to take over the tenancy well it finally happened, two weeks ago i got the letter to say that the allotment is NOW MINE paper work has been signed and it is mine

it was 6 ft in grass bind weed and brambles i dont mind admitting i cried when i saw the state of it again when i remember how i will upload some photos

in the mean time i have started clearing it for the THIRD TIME, we have strimed the grass and hacked back the brambles and ripped up the visible bind weed and my next task is to dig up the grass again and the weeds ready to start again

That must be so heartbreaking, to see all your work go to waste like that...

At least you know it is no more than two years worth of weeds?!

Do any of the people on the neighbouring plots remember you from all the work you did last time? They might be so pleased to see the potential weed invasion being controlled again, they might be willing to help you a little, or at least boost your morale with a cuppa and a biccies every now and then?

I would guess that it looks worse than it is. Although it looks as though it's an unkempt lawn I suspect that it's very patchy and it's being made to look worse by the all the dead tops that have flopped over.

Good luck with it :blue thumb:. At least it's yours now. :yahoo:

Keep at it Kaz, I remember work you did previously here and the overall feeling you will get from clearing it a third time will almost be euphoric.

Make it right, make it good, make it yours, because it definitely is now!

                Steve...:)

Kaz, you can do it, and as Steve says, it is your`s and yours alone now.

Good luck and I am sure you will soon have it knocked into shape. It really makes my blood boil when people fail to look after their plot. Having waited four years for a half plot I was disgusted to see the number of neglected plots on our site. They pay the rent and then do nothing with it... WHY???:wallbanging: I've asked about taking over another half plot or even a full plot to be told there is a waiting list. A WAITING LIST !!!!!:thud: Good luck and keep us posted.:blue thumb:

Anyone on GC local who can lend a hand (Brownies motto) ?

With Doddery, we have 64 immaculate plots, and seven not touched, with a waiting list of 62
We have (committee) sent them letters, and the council have issued fix or leave but still no action

That is one of our clean up jobs next weekend

You need to get organised and have an 'Allotment Party' to celebrate your 'new' plot. You provide some beer and nibbles and tell everyone that you don't want presents but you want them to bring a spade or fork for them to use for just half an hour. :)

It just may work :blue thumb: :Wino:

                            Good idea, Shiney!

We have some friends in the Netherlands who have organised a garden parties, to work on their garden. (We were even mad enough to drive up from Belgium for the day to help them - where I first got Wolf pruning-saw envy!). They would have a team of about 10-15 people, cutting, pruning, clearing, etc. Those with zero gardening knowledge were either paired up with those in the know, or helped to set up the celebration BBQ that the day ended with.

...in fact, some of these same people are heading south this very afternoon, to join us in a painting party this weekend! Room is already cleared, and a rib-of-beef will be cooked tomorrow night, washed down no doubt with copious amounts of alcohol:Wino:.

Sian that sounds fantastic! I've just taken over a plot and almost weeded it all/dug over, but the neighbours plot is grown over with loads of weeds. I started clearing it yesterday and will be taking a big strimmer to get through the thick of it. Just a shame people think it's ok to leave it like that.
