I noticed thismorning that my strawberry plants and my 'bleeding heart' have been ravaged! The plants are at opposite ends of the garden, but the leaves are covered in tiny holes and look a bit like lace doylees now. The leaves have not been eaten from the edges, but entire leaves are covered in these 'pin pricks'. What's going on people?

Hi Dave do thy look a bit like this..??
[IMG].... This is Flea beetle damage.. Is this what yours is like... You can get sprays for them at the garden centres or you can mix up a spray of vinegar & water & spray daily for at least a week on veg.. I think I use the B & Q bug gun at the moment & it works well on my flowers..

I did find this article though..

    Good article, MF.

The owner of an organic farm near me says the real curse of flea beetle for professional growers is that it makes a crop look unattractive even if the root of the plant e.g. a radish, is still edible. At least us amateurs can just ignore the leaves if they're not too holey but Mr Tesco or Mr Sainsbury won't!

    Flea Beetle for sure Dave.
They don't matter if you don't intend to eat the leaves, but devastating on crops for greens.
    Follow Marley Farley's advice.

I'll get the little critters even if I have to be out there day and night and shoot them down one by one hehehe. (I may be some time!)
