Oh what a tangled mess we weave ...

    Right, the mess that you can see on the attached photos is Clematis Broughton Star fused with Honeysuckle Lonicera, which has been in leaf till a couple or three weeks ago and has now all dropped.

    Would you cut this lot back ?!?

    If so how and to what point ? e.g. the Clematis on the right has massive thick stems all the way up the post.

    Or would you just see what it does next year (remember I've been in this house since July, so not seen it flowering) and let it continue its rambling mess (and just trim to keep to that shape/size) ?

    Yep, I'd leave it for this year to see what it looks like and then decide what you want to do, might look better than you think!!:D

    I'd leave those, but would include 2 evergreen cleamatis to grow inbetween and supply some greenery during autumn/ winter
