No, I'm not referring to me! But while rooting through a Chest of Drawers I came across this which I haven't brought into the light for a year or so. I used to know a Lady, a long time ago, from a wealthy and fairly distinguished family, who has since died, and she gave this box of exposed glass plates. They're photo's of her Family and Servants taken in the 1890's and I had some prints taken off the glass plates as well as getting them treated to stop any deterioration of the silvers. The print on the box is still readable and there are directions on how to make the "soups" for developer and fixer. Just thought you might like to see them.:snork:

I don't think at 122 years old it's in that bad of a shape. They built things to last in those days!!

I actually got offered the huge wooden camera , on a tripod, Sheal, at the same time I was given the box of plates but, since I was a travelling man in the RAF, turned it down.....:gaah::snork:

The thing is, back then we really didn't consider what these things might be worth in the future. People are so much more aware of what's valuable now.

Well, I do treasure the box of plates, not because they're valuable but because it reminds me of the Lady who really was a Lady of the Realm. I've got the prints off the plates stored in the box with the plates. They're a little faded now but I might scan a few and post them, gaiters, bowler hats and all!!

I have never actually seen one, which is kind of odd as I have been to quite a few exhibitions in museums and such over the years.

              Steve...:)
