    Hello folks.

I have never really done any gardening before, unless you count a patch of ground outside my living room window that I grew some herbs on ...

Now I'm looking after my dear, grey-haired old mother's garden (or at least trying to knock it into shape, as it's too much for her to deal with these days).

I've done the emergency mowing of the foot-long grass/dandelions that make up the lawn. I've done a lot of first-aid weeding. Now we're hopefully getting down to some more interesting stuff, like planting out things that she has in pots.

We don't make a very good team though, as I can identify about three plants (rose, grass, dandelion), and my poor mother has a failing memory and can't remember all that she once knew.

    But, I have the internet!

I'm afraid I'm probably going to be a nuisance asking very basic questions, but hopefully you folks on this forum will be able to bear with me.

    All the best,
    Louis.

Ah. And I was hoping I could post a picture of a plant I want to identify in the itendification forum, but it seems I can't attach a file. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Slinky, thanks for that. I realised after I posted that there is an 'insert picture' button, and I have an account with Imageshack, so I've been able to post now.

    More dumb questions shortly ...

    Louis.

Hi Kath. The biscuit design thing is an old joke. I once managed to convince someone at a party that my greatest achievement had been inventing the 'Garibaldi' biscuit :)

You been reading The Lord Of The Rings recently by the way?

Awww - raise a girl up to let her down again..... I thought you might have been Mr Chocky Hobnob himself.... Mmmm .... what an invention!

As for the sig .... well spotted. Yes a favourite saying of mine and one I hold as the story of my life! ;) Been a big fan of LOTR, one way or another, since I was 11!

Welcome to the forum once again! Louis or Louise - you can be whomever you want to be here - we are all very open minded and the surgery is so good these days you'd never know any the wiser! ;):thumb:

The attachments feature is inoperative - I expect eventually the Webmaster will figure out/get time to switch it on. [IMG]

We had plates of biscuits at work 'for the clients to nibble on', but I would take one most times I went past a plate. Since I gave them up in January 2007 I have lost about 18 pounds in weight! Digestives I can live without, but Chocolate Hob-Nobs test my resolve always.

"Chocolate Hob-Nob, YOU. SHALL. NOT. PASS. (my lips)"

As for the surgery, I would know! Ain't nobody coming near me with a scalpel
