    Hi all

There's a pile of blown down fence where I live, and I was considering using it to make a compost bin.

I don't know if it's been painted with creosote, but it has definitely been treated with some kind of Cuprinol type paint or other.

Is it ok to use it for the walls of a compost bin, or will I risk the creosote/paint leach into the compost?

As ever, thanks very much indeed.

If it's old you are probably ok with it. If worried you could always try lining it with polythene.
We've a compost heap that was built about 18 years ago from slab wood and was regularly treated with creosote to preserve it. We never had any problems.
