Mark and I had a trip up to Olive Grove Nurseries at the weekend, a fairly new nursery, specialising in large exotics and statement plants up in Northants.

They have a large selection of the more common palms, trees, shrubs, loads of olives, not really much in the way of the more unusual plants, although they do stock a few agaves, yuccas, dasylirion etc. The set up seems to be aiming more at the high end garden design/makeover trade market, but also retail as well.

We picked up a big cycas revoluta discounted down to to £50 as well as yet another trachy.

All of the cycads in the photo including the larger ones at the back were £50.

Worth a trip if in the area or after a good selection of the more typical staple plants, but not really if looking for something a bit more unusual - well not yet anyway.

The cycads are a real bargain TG.

Just wondering if most nurseries have a autumn sale when their tropical plants become 'affordable', I'm biding my time for some more trachycarpus hoping there will be some bargains soon.

Quite a few do have autumn sales, with several having discounts of 50% as they would rather not have to overwinter plants themselves.

Akamba, Amulree, Urban Jungle are a few that jump to mind that usually have sales, im sure some of the others do too!
