Oh come, come! Wasn't that bad. I was a bit like  about Beckham but then learned he is an East End kind born and bred and also campaigned for the Olympics to come to London. So he passed muster in my books - not that he did much. Boris was great to see but he's no clothes horse and looked a bit rumply dumply up there beside those two smart men!

But I liked the Brit presentation. Wasn't half bad. And we should get out of our tendency (I was as guilty as anyone else) of thinking London is going to be a washout compared to Beijing. London is going to be TOTALLY different to Beijing and I think we'll be pleasantly surprised in 2012.

    You wait and see. :thumb:

Yep, we must wait and see as to how things turn out in London in four yrs time.

The Chinese certainly put on a good show, difficult to beat, but perhaps thats not the right attitude.

I just hope that what with the "recession" starting to bite, there will be enough money around to finish the job.

And lets hope all that foreign labour gets it all built on time.

Dasisees, Plesantly suprised, doubt it more likely left with a big bill.

Yes the china games apearered good but then thats easy when you have a dictatorship that can use slave labour to build stadia, force people out houses to obtain land and detain citizens without trial.

As for 2012, Im all for sporting achievementand we will put on a show to be proud of but sadly I think we will be left with a lot of useless stadia due to no funds for long term maintance and as a country a very big bill.

    Remember the melenium dome anyone?

Personally id rather the money was spent on a worthwhile casuse like the building of milatry hospitals to cater for our many soldiers wounded fighting a worthless cause in iraq and afganistan or perhaps the money just spent on the NHS.

Just think what good £22.6 BILLION would achieve towards this worlds problem!
That is a large bucket of money China has spent on two weeks of action for the privileged few.... sorry... does not gel with me.

At a time when there is so much to feel stressed/depressed about living in Britain, I found it a great joy to be able to watch the news with something positive being reported, what a welcome break from endless 'doom and gloom'!

China can do as they like, and they probably will.

Its what happens here that should be of importance I think.

We should stop meddling in other countries and mind our own buisness.
Its costing us too much money trying to put the world to rights.

And I mean our OWN buisness.

Just glad it's all over.:) I love Sport but it should never be on the front page or the first item on the news. It's just Sport. Far more important things happening in the world.

I was rather disappointed with our 8 minutes. The film showing British culture included a picture of Myra Hindley, goose stepping horse guards and graffiti. The dancers kept littering the road with their newspapers and after China spent so long teaching their people to queue, why did we do a depiction of people mobbing a bus?

Mind you, I love Boris, he's such a character. I loved the way he shambled on and kept putting his hands in his pockets. Please don't ever let the spin doctors change him.

Nurse. No-one is going to change him. Just another example of the fact that Londoners have the best sense of humour/irony, in the world:D
