Its on the box right now. I just walked into the room to catch a piece styled on Mary Poppins, but featuring hundreds of people at once. Now we've got the London Philharmonic Orchestra doing a piece.

I have to admit, I've thought the whole thing was going pear shaped so far, but watching this show on telly is so far incredible. How anyone can pull of a show on this scale live is beyond me.

I am not too sure what to make of it either, but I did have to laugh at the queen jumping out of a helicopter.

      I missed that bit:)

Tim Berners Lee is on now. The chap widely credited for inventing the internet (its rarely mentioned that the internet was built on top of a military network that was left over from the cold war). I guess its fair enough to say he invented the public internet.

Thing is although the whole thing is about the UK, I doubt most of the world will understand it / our humour.

Well done our Danny. I must admit I had my doubts when that maypole thingy and cast of antique yokels hove into view, but by the time those amazing chimneys got going I was completely won over. The 'forging' of the Olympic rings was a brilliant idea and Akram Khan's choreography was fantastic. Maybe other nations won't have got it all - although I'm sure they were issued with a comprehensive blow-by-blow script - but you couldn't fail to be a little intrigued. Beijing had money and conformity down to the tiniest degree; we had quirkiness and, well, diversity - much as I normally hate the word. And we have the best tunes, too. Altogether, now: we're pretty, pretty vacant ...... and we don't care!!!
