I've bought loads of stuff off Amazon and never had any problems W.O.O. It's a reputable company with a secure payment site so should be ok [IMG]

Likewise, had no problems with Amazon
and a few minutes before I logged on here I purchased an item on ebay!

Did have one problem with an on-line seller. Bought an LP at a very low price considering it was qite rare. When after 2 weeks it hadn't arrived in the post I contacted seller who said he hadn't got it now, had mistaken the title.
Some time later it was for sale again at about 5 times the first asking price! Needless to say I did not buy it.

But mostly have had some very good value items through on-line buying.

I recently bought a dyson from amazon the DC15 'The Ball' Animal for Ã?£262 listed with comet as Ã?£359 was very pleased [IMG] I always check amazon first as they seem to have the best prices most of the time. I wish they did a loyalty card.

Anyone looking for offers should check this site first as I have saved a small fortune scouring the internet for codes.

    http://www.rboffers.com/

Plus I belong to www.Quidco.com which gets you online cash back. If anyone wants me to check best prices for something give me a shout, I love a challenge [IMG]

One of the things I like about Amazon, beside the speed, is that you can get old books from its book store networks. Comes in very handy for finding old favourites for both my elderly mother and me.

Yes Amazon is great for books, music and DVD's but it's not the last word for old out of print books. Often Amazon can't deliver but Abebooks can. Never failed me yet and I've asked it for some very obscure stuff. Go to: www.abebooks.co.uk.

Personally I never order electronic goods on line. They are often imports with invalid guarantees and I had the most dreadful hassle with a camera that I thought was coming from London. It wasn't - it was sent from Paris, but I never got it. Endless nonsense with carrier tracker websites etc etc. trying to locate it and me having to prove that I hadn't received it. Grrrr Much rather buy locally and pay a bit more for slightly higher priced electronic and photo items. Then you can speak to a face rather than an e-box when it goes wrong

Online shopping can be minefield but stick with the brands you know and you are usually pretty safe. I recently bought an LCD TV brand new just released for 40% off list price. I have some superb currys codes for anyone interested. [IMG]

I have used Empire Direct a few times the Digital Camera Company and both have been good. Also heard that Jacobs can be good as well. More recently I had to buy a digital SLR for my son from a company new to me -cameras2u.com . I gave them the third degree over the phone but they were very nice about it. They were quick with delivery and were the cheapest price at that time for that model.
Apart from the usual checks for security I tend to stick with banking that i am famiiar with and I look for a firm with a phone number and a postal address. If they are a good firm then they should not mind you ringing them or even knowing where they are located.
Some of them can be very good with advice on the phone - in fact darn sight better than some shops who just want to give you a box. It is also not that easy to get to the shops here in darkest Shropshire.

I recently bought a Nikon camera.
Saw the package I wanted on cameras2u.com, printed it off, took it into Jessops and they matched the price for camera and lenses.
I'm a bit old fashioned about on line buying, I like a shop to take it back to if there's a problem. Plus you get to try it out before you buy.
