Onion Sets

    Heat treated onion sets do you think they are any better than onion sets that have not been heat treated.

    Hi golfer/Ziggy.

    I'm pretty sure that there are two kinds of set, those that are heat treated and those that aren't. This year (from a spring planting), half of my onions were heat treated sets, and not a single one bolted. Mind you, they weren't cheap!

    I seem to remember when the autumn planting sets first came on sale the story was that they were heat treated which stopped them running to seed following winter.

    As to whether spring planting sets were heat treated at the time I dont know.
