Hi again, I just welcomed you on your "Hi there!" but may as well do so again. There are quite a few from Wales here in the meantime, as I am originally. I was born in Pontypridd, and I remember going to Barry Island with my grandparents when we visited them during the holidays. That is my Kid Sis, Lady of Leisure, and myself. She'll be along to welcome you too soon. We gave up putting fish in our largish pond as the heron kept coming and having them for lunch. See you around!

Hello Netty, from a fellow Welsh person. I know Barry Island too. They have done such a lot to it now to make it a fabulous beach.

I'm new too, only been here a couple of days and still feeling my way around.

hello netty, i lived in Newport for a short while. spent a lot of my summers there, visiting barryand tiger bay, but mainly the valleys. I loved them.
Haven't been down for a few years now, but as you can see, we're nearly neighbours :D
    Welcome to GC

Thanks everyone for making me feel so welcome ..what a great place to come and chat with like minded people.I know what you mean about the valleys Compostee they are beautiful and sometimes when you live in a place you forget to notice the beauty around you so its good to be reminded of it now and again. The beach is beautiful Loobylou but there is a rumour that the fairground is closing and with no holiday camp here now it is not the place for holidays it once was :(

Hi Netty and welcome. I dont know your area very well but used to go to the Arms Park to watch rugby years ago! I was brought up in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd in North Wales however and agree that it is a glorious country.

Welcome Netty, I'm also a Junior, only been here a few days, it's a great site.

A friend lives in Wales, and Togo and I stay with her for a few days each year, she suggested a trip on the train to Barry Island, we had ice cream as we gazed out to sea, it was a lovely warm day.
