I was hacking down my little moss? roses, and accidentally hacked the main stem of my struggling 'Kiftsgate'. I don't know whetther to take this as asign from the gods and buy something else, or persevere!
I did wonder if it might be suffering fom the 'rose sickness' mentioned elsewhere, as it is planted in between the moss? roses.

A friend of mine chopped back a huge Rambling rector a while after flowering last year (just when she shouldn't IMHO), and it sat there and looked all but dead for the rest of the year. This year its 8ft high, bushy and dense, and had quite a few flowers. Might be worth ignoring your rose for a while and see what it will do?
