Yes you can but they will not survive all year outside in the UK
and you could wait a good few years before it flowers.
Other than that, is a good experiment and you end up with a nice half hardy house plant.

I've currently got about 20 on the kitchen windowsill; all grown from pips, strange thing was all the pips came from one orange!!!!!, others of the same variety had none.

The interesting thing is you could get a single stem plant from a pip or one with anything up to four or five stems. I believe they are actually seperate little plants growing from a single pip?

Anyway its good fun and they do make attractive plants, good for bonsai too. :thumb:

If you're after making a bit of extra pocket money, they sell very well on Ebay :D, small 2-3" plants go for £4-£5 each...:thumb: (might sell a few of mine)

My main lemon tree is doing well now i've moved it into the greenhouse.

Mrs was trying to kill all my plants on the window sill by not opening the blinds all day when I was working away.

Citrus are usually grafted, to its touch and go whether you'll get any flowers on one grown from seed.

However, you'll have grown a rootstock so it'll be worth finding someone with a fruiting tree to take a cutting to graft onto yours.

The cost of a grafted tree is enormous so its gotta be worth doing.

Always fancied growing one of those citrus used for making peel, is it called a citron:what: Nearly the size of a rugby ball, think I last saw one at RHS Wisley.

Oh, that reminds me, saw a huge bug scuttle up my sleeve in one of the hot houses there. In seconds I had stripped down to my underpants, disturbing several little old ladies and delighting a group of japanese tourists and a party of catholic school children.

Never did find the bug though, ask security.
