Bought in flower March 2005 and flowers lasted 5 months or so, once flowers finished, it was cut a couple of nodes from the base, has been fed orchid food and watered correctly, it is kept in a warm room with plenty of light, it has grown 2 large leaves this year.

Has anyone got any ideas please as to why it has not flowered this year ???

    Many thanks

    Donna

    Phalaenopsis I presume? Donna
They tend to bloom when they feel like it, there's no seasonal flowering as such.
If its growing new leaves its doing all right, could be that your overfeeding a bit perhaps.

It will bloom. All of a sudden you will see a flower spike. I once bought a named phal at a plant fair and all the flowers dropped next day! (it was October) I had to wait 3 years for it to bloom again, but the leaves were beautiful. Some I picked up in B&Q (they had some crackers with 2 stems for £5 at Easter!) flower regularly at the same time each year, some more than once. I rarely feed.

Phalaenopsis enjoy bright indirect light. Place it in a room with eastern exposure and it will thrive. It flourishes also at southern or bright northern windows. Also bear in mind that placing an orchid in a room with northern exposure may lead to fewer bloom production or no blooms at all.
