I shifted my orchid to new pot and it died ... pot was big...so to keep it alive I cut all leaves n flora....now it has few live healthy roots.

    1. How to take care of it?
    15001459474771122248527.jpg 1500145973327210355184.jpg

Its kept under a tree in a west corner with a box with some water under it.

Should I take it out rap the roots with coconut hairs and hand it on an old apple tree in the south or even I have an old apple tree in the north also on their trunk?

    Which spproach is better?

    Thanks

Errrr, what kind of orchid was it?

Be interested to know what it looked like before you cut off all the leaves.

I'm just thinking you might be doing everything wrong.:)

It was a healthy plant with 6,7 flowers and 5,6 big healthy leaves and then I ruined it

      Phalaenopsis.
Right, first off, they dont like standing in water, and need to be very well drained in a special orchid compost.
Let it dry out almost completely between waterings.
      Dont overpot.
Dont cut all the leaves off.
Dont leave it outside, put it in a window that receives good indirect light.
      And hope for the best.

You have probably done more damage by repotting and 'pruning' it.
Buy another they are not expensive.

            Hi Elina,

Wow that's some serious "pruning" you've done there. :psnp: If the roots are intact, it should grow back. It will take time to heal and might look dead but hang in there. It might not grow for months but I've had a "dead" orchid for about a year which has come back to life :blue thumb:

You really don't have to worry about repotting this orchid. It's an epiphyte, where it sends out aerial roots to soak up moisture from the air. I would leave it alone until the soil is dry. If you touch the soil and bits stick to your finger, it's wet enough already. Wet soil prevents roots from healing. when the soil is dry, I'd very lightly mist it each day. By that, I mean spraying it for about a second, literally. The orchids I have only get water from steam when I have a shower each day. That's it. My grandmother waters her orchids by placing a single small ice cube on the soil surface each week.

            Hope it helps! :dbgrtmb:

            P.S. Nice plant pot!

Thanks v.informative.... I accept I did all the wrong moves , not one of them was good enough for the orchids... this orchid pots really drains quickly and dont keep any water thats why now i have placed it over some water at the base. Hope that works well.

Thank you every1 it really helped!

I'm a new gardener...never knew orchids are so much different than other plants.... so I treated them like other regular plants so it all went wrong on each and every step :( .

That's what we do though  Mess up and learn from it :blue thumb:

So the plant pot looks good and doesn't hold water? Sounds perfect for the orchid. Keep us posted on how the plant recovers.
