    Hi,
Can anyone advise on my orchids please ? They have a fluffy white Aphid type creature all over them. I tried picking them off when there was only the odd, but there are too many now. The only problem is I canĂ¢??t use strong sprays as my son has Asthma (I normally move house plants outside for treatment if need be, but it too cold for orchids out there I think), so donĂ¢??t know what else to do.

It could be Mealy bug use a spray with a solution of liquid soap(available from health shops), not detergent as it may damage plants.
30ml liquid soap in 1 litre of tepid water, the soution holds good if the pest is one of the aphids.

Digger, sounds to me like woolly aphids. Whether mealy bugs or woolly aphids, you need to spray with a systemic insecticide.:gnthb:
