saw some fairly large koi in a garden centre in my area a few weeks ago ...

                £300 each

                :ouch1:

must say though that they looked good and healthy .... I'd say that they were approx 1 1/2 feet long and fat ....

breed those and you can sell at big profit to recoup your costs of building/setting out the pond

would love to have my own koi pond one day .... I'm just waiting for the lotto to payout

                Hiya Gaz.

Some nice bright fishes there:blue thumb: In particular, a Shiro caught my eye:)

*dim*, it's not so much about breeding, but more to do with culling, and having a good eye for potential, in other words, the selection process. That's where the high prices come from. Trust me, £300 is nothing in the world of Koi keeping. Some fish CAN sell for 6 figure sums.

                Cheers...Freddy.

Yes, home bred koi are pretty much worthless in monetary terms. Priceless I suppose if you have bred and raised them yourself though.
I used to pay around the £2-300 mark for my general koi but then into 4 figures for my special koi or koi I took to shows.
The only thing about keeping different fish with koi in the same pond is that some medications used for koi can be bad for other pond fish.
Nice bunch of fish you have there Gaz.
