Since moving in in September last year we have done a remarkable amount towards transforming our Scottish retreat.
The veggie patch has moved from the front to the back
    [IMG]
And been replaced with a pond and lawn area
    [IMG]

And we've also extended the small rockery area and added some gravel paths

Beyond the garden wall, ghowever, the view stays much the same!

Still plenty to do - not least keep fighting back the weeds which were allowedto seed last summer! - but also now a bit of time to sit bakc and congratulate ourselves!

    Hi Anthony.

You and Joseph have done a beautiful transformation. (I'm sure Paddy & Zak helped too!)

That looks brilliant (and a lot of hard work) and now the garden and the lovely view compliment one another. Well done for the planning and the work :thumb:

I have to say digging the pond was a bit of a nightmare - so much stone just below the surface!! Still that made a good base for some of the paths. Had it been a bit easier going, the pond might have ended up a bit bigger, but a man can only take so much LOL

    What a lovely transformation Anthony.

Any idea when you will be able to take paying guests in your guesthouse! I'd love to add my name to the waiting list! :)

You are so countrified....what sorts of birds and wildlife do you get in your garden and the pond??

I can see Mr Cookie and I doing our Wickerman Tour yet!!!! ;)

Wow! Having been inspired by those lovely pics I've been to look at your website and I want to pack my bags now and head up there now!! (sadly I don't think the boss would be too pleased:D).

Congratulations on getting the garden and the house looking so lovely and (it has to be said) on having such an informative website (so many don't these days):thumb:.

Good luck with your lovely b&b and cottage, and I hope to come and see you one day
    xx

Thanks all... and, Cookie Monster, the guesthouse is now well and truly open, after a couple of false stars, so you would be more than welcome to be one of our first guests.
We certainly do have a lovely location, surrounded by sheep cows and the occasional deer - and hundreds of rabbits which, even despite 2 greyhounds, still manage to do a bit of damage round the garden! We have such a wide variety of birds in the garden, its fantastic - goldfinches, bullfinches, robins, thrushes, blackbirds, wrens, pied wagtails, swallows, blue, great, and coal and tits are all regular visitors, and various varieties of owls and hawks are to be seen nearby too. Lots of frogs in and around the pond. I keep thinking we should start a wildlife diary!

So yes, the Cookie family, and Dizi, and anyone else would be more than welcome to come and see for yourslves - you could even bring your gardening gloves and help pull a few weeds!!!
