    Hi all,

A few of you will know that lately my mom and me have been transforming our garden.

It has hardly been touched in the last couple of years since my dad died, but this last few months my mom has decided that the time was now right to get things back in good order. It's been filled with a lot of old fashioned cottage garden type plants that hold memories of times gone by for all of us.

This is how it was before we started....

Then the shed was demolished and taken away...........

At this point we gave ourselves 4 weeks to complete it, however, 6 weeks later here we go ( hope you like it ).....

There'll be a few more photos on Thursday as I've just realised I haven't taken the uphill photos yet.

PS... My favourite addition is the concrete block planted up with hardy succulents. Just got to get a few more Houseleeks to finish it off now.

That proves we don't need all those fancy pots etc. to create something different! :)

It's nearly all been done on the cheap Sheal.

The last photo in the first post ( the one with the Lychnis and Marguerites ) is actually three plastic laundry baskets ( cost 50p each ) with 2 rolls of wooden lawn edging ( cost £1 total ) and painted grey ( cost £1 ).

Most of the plants are either from Poundland, The Range or self grown.

Even the greenhouse was cheap.... It should have been £50, but it was half price and then we had a £10 voucher as well ( total cost £15 ) from Coopers of Stortford.

The only expensive items were the cast iron containers the trees are in, they were between £20 and £40 each.

A stunning transformation, especially in such a relatively short space of time: bravo! :star:

The laundry baskets + log roll is an inspired idea and works well in a gravel garden.

You've picked up some bargains Anthony :dbgrtmb: and the laundry baskets work, they blend in with the other pots very nicely. :)

It looks brilliant Anthony, it must be really inviting to sit out there in nice weather (whenever we get some ).

My only surprise was the (relative) lack of Fuchsias - where are you hiding them all? :dbgrtmb:

                              Thanks Ben,

You've got to remember, we've had gorgeous weather mow for almost two months. The only rain we've had was one day last week.

                              Aargh... The Fuchsias :)

                              They're all in there somewhere, about 150 of them ! ! !

The half baskets on the fences are all Fuchsias, the tubs with the Lilies in are all Fuchsias and the containers with the three trees in are ( you've guessed it ) underplanted with Fuchsias. Oh, and there are another four pots that I haven't photographed yet.

It's just that they're only just starting to flower. Basically, anything that you see that's green but not flowering is a Fuchsia :)
