Of course we are really blessed with such lovely countryside all round - makes a fantastic backdrop to anythng you do with the garden. We wanted to create a really nice seating area to take it all in from, transforming a rather boring and very uneven patch of lawn, and decided to give it a bit of a beach theme to reflect the fact we are only 3 miles from the sea.

that picture looks beautiful. How long did that lil project take you?

 

Hard to say exactly, as it was done in bits and pieces! The decking and pergola took about 3 days, then we added the pond, which took another couple of days, and then sorting out the gravel paths etc. took another day or two... then general tidying up. All over about 3 weeks in between running out guesthouse.

That looks great! It will certainly be a lovely place to sit and survey your garden :thumb:

 

Not entirely sure exactly what we'll grow up it - trouble is it really catches the wind, so needs to be fairly tough! I'd like to try a golden hop as well as the inevitable clematis - what does anyone think?

What about a Virginia Creeper, Ant? I don`t think the Golden Hop will succeed. As for the Clematis, I think it would have to be a Montana. Then, of course, there`s Honeysuckle.:thumb::D

 

Or Russian Vine, you'll be cutting it back before you know it!

I love your view and the finished result should look fantastic.
